Picking in the warehouse app
Create and take over pick lists in the warehouse app and work through them by scan along the walking route – with shortages, alternative bins, undo and printing.
Under Goods issue → Picking you collect the goods for orders from the shelves. The app guides you along the walking route from bin to bin – you scan bin and item, it keeps count. For all warehouses, picking is done only here; you see, print and cancel all pick lists of the warehouse under Goods issue → Pick list overview.
You need the permission Create and process pick lists. To create new pick lists from "My pick lists" you also need Create pick lists – without it the entries are greyed out, and tapping them shows which permission is missing.
The page
On wide screens you see two columns – Process on the left, My pick lists on the right. On a phone you switch between them at the top.
- Process: Take next pick list, the Scan pick list field and the open lists – first In progress with me, then Open in the warehouse. Lists of other employees are marked Assigned, started ones Started, and lists of a pick wave shortly before cut-off Cut-off.
- My pick lists: your pick list templates for this warehouse, in the order from Settings → Pick lists. At the top right of each card is the counter X orders (refreshed every 30 seconds).
- The counter is a real trial run: it only counts orders that would actually end up on a pick list right now – with a shipping method, paid or with a payment method that allows shipping before payment, in stock in this warehouse, not on hold and without a later Ship no earlier than date.
- If orders match the filters but none can be picked, the bottom of the card shows for example "30 matching, 0 pickable – 12 without stock in …, 3 shipping only from … · plus 8 unpaid". Unpaid orders do not count as matching and are therefore listed separately ("plus …").
- One tap creates the pick list and opens it. Templates with a preview first show orders, lines and units – then Create pick list. Templates with Rolling start rolling picking.
- If the template also plans FFN orders from your merchants (as a fulfiller), they are counted too and carry the FFN tag.
- Compose pick list freely: button at the top right above "My pick lists" – for a list without a template. Choose the picking method (Single pick, Pick-to-box, Batch pick, Zone pick) and At most 5, 10, 20 or 50. The oldest orders that are fully in stock and released for shipping are planned.
With Zone pick, the partial pick lists per warehouse area are shown below the list – you take over your area specifically.
Step by step
- Tap Take next pick list, scan a printed pick list or tap a list. This also lets you take over someone else's list.
- The bin is shown at the top in large type. Scan the Bin – the display changes to Bin confirmed.
- Scan the Item. Each scan counts (for a pack, the whole pack quantity). Once the planned quantity is reached, the app confirms the line itself and jumps to the next one. For large quantities, tap × Quantity first, enter the quantity and scan once – see Enter quantity, then scan.
- Alternatively, tap Confirm (quantity) at the bottom – without mandatory scanning, the planned quantity is applied.
- Under Next on the walking route you see the next bins; a tap jumps straight there.
- Once all lines are processed, tap Complete pick list. For templates with pack directly, the button is called Complete and continue to packing.
- The app then shows which orders are Ready to ship and which were put back due to a shortage. Pack now takes you to Packing.
With Pick-to-box, each line shows the order's Box. Via Boxes and cart you assign shipping boxes or a cart (scan the cart: compartment n = box n). With Batch pick and Zone pick you pick the total quantity per item and bin into one container and then distribute it under Fill boxes.
Transfers and production supply
If the template also plans transfers or Production supply, their steps appear on the same walking route. A tag shows the type, e.g. Transfer TO-… → target warehouse or Production PO-…. You scan bin and item as usual. The scan books immediately: transfers to "in transit", material to the production order. Nothing is packed. Booked steps cannot be undone. Shortage closes the rest of the step. With Complete pick list the transfer orders count as shipped.
Bills of materials
A set (bill of materials) is picked as its Components. Each component appears at its bin on the walking route and is scanned individually, with batch/best-before date where required. The card shows Bill of materials … · quantity per set · component 2 of 3. Under "Next on the walking route", components show the name of the bill of materials.
Shortages and alternative bins
- Shortage: tap Shortage at the bottom, enter the quantity found and choose what happens to the stock: Correct stock (with a correction reason), To clarification bin or Leave stock unchanged. The bin is flagged for checking. If the item is stored elsewhere, the alternative bin is added to the list right away.
- Alternative bin: scan the bin where the goods actually are. The app asks Pick from a different bin? – with Pick from … you accept it.
- Undo: under Done, tap a line and then Undo – it is open again.
Scanning
- The app recognises items by item number, EAN/GTIN, GS1 codes (including quantity, batch and best-before date from the code) and other numbers such as pack EAN, UPC or MPN.
- If Scan required when picking is set for the warehouse, scan the bin first, then the item – otherwise Confirm stays locked.
- If the warehouse requires a batch check, scan the batch (label or GS1 code); the app shows "Batch … recorded".
- Storage rules may require you to separately confirm unusual quantities, a Note on the item or a deviation from FEFO.
Printing
The printer icon next to a list or Print in the pick list sends it to the device's pick list printer (device profile). If none can be reached, the PDF opens.
Common errors
| Message | Solution |
|---|---|
| "… is not an open pick list." | Wrong code, or the list is already completed or cancelled – tap the list in the overview. |
| "Scan the storage bin … first." | Scan required: scan the bin first. |
| "… does not match: expected bin … or item …" | Wrong item or bin – check the label, scan a different bin if necessary. |
| "There is no … on …" | The item is not on the scanned bin – go to the planned bin. |
| "Already … of … – no more is planned." | Too much scanned (often a pack) – put the surplus goods back. |
| "No pick list printer reachable … – PDF opened." | Check the print agent or the printer in the device profile, see Print agent. |
| "No matching orders" or "none … can be picked now – …" | The template finds nothing that can be planned. The message names the most common reasons (no stock, no shipping method, shipping only from …, plus unpaid). Check stock, payment, shipping method or the "Ship no earlier than" date on the order. |
| "Template "…": only from … orders – currently … can be planned." | The template requires a minimum number of orders – try again later. |
