WMS warehouse and standard warehouse: what runs in the warehouse app

ReferenceLast checked on 15/10/2026

What a WMS warehouse is, how to convert a warehouse and which processes for standard and WMS warehouses run only in the mobile warehouse app.

allverto has two types of warehouse management. You choose it per warehouse in the Create warehouse or Edit warehouse dialog under Warehouse management.

Standard warehouseWMS warehouse
Stockper warehouse, without storage binsalways on a real storage bin
Goods receipt, picking, packing, stocktaking countsin the warehouse app, without bin scanin the warehouse app, with bin scan
Transfer, replenishment, put-away– (no bins)only in the warehouse app
Correction (plus/minus) in the ERPyes – Correct stockno, only in the warehouse app

The rule: warehouse processes run in the warehouse app

Posting goods receipts, picking, packing at the packing station, stocktaking counts and transfers are now only available in the warehouse app for all warehouses – standard and WMS. From the ERP you open it via the Warehouse app icon at the top right of the header or under Warehouse → Warehouse app (mobile) in a new tab; it also runs on the desktop. Processes that need storage bins (put-away, transfer, replenishment, transport units …) are hidden by the warehouse app for standard warehouses.

In WMS warehouses, the following also applies: stock is posted only by the warehouse app – where every bin and every item is scanned. You still see the stock in the ERP, but Correct stock is greyed out with the notice “Only in the warehouse app (WMS)”. In standard warehouses, the ERP may still post corrections.

Only in the warehouse app (all warehouses):

  • Goods receipt (from the purchase order: Goods receipt in the warehouse app)
  • Picking, packing and identical orders
  • Counting bins or warehouses for stocktaking
  • Transfers, carrying out replenishment, posting transfer orders out and in (only with bins)
  • Creating, printing, cancelling and processing pick lists
  • Maintaining replenishment rules, viewing transfers and planning transfer orders
  • Putting away returns or posting them as B-stock

Stays in the ERP:

  • Warehouse overview, warehouses & bins, movements, checking best-before dates (at the shelf also in the warehouse app), inventory valuation, clarification cases
  • Creating a stocktaking, requesting a recount, discarding and posting differences
  • Pick list templates (also in the warehouse app under Settings → Pick lists) and the other warehouse settings
  • Creating purchase orders for a warehouse
  • Corrections (plus/minus) in standard warehouses

Automatic processes such as shipping, point of sale, production and the JTL migration continue to post on their own.

Permissions

Roles that were previously allowed to perform these processes in the ERP automatically received the permission Use the mobile warehouse app and the matching warehouse app permissions.

Settings per WMS warehouse

  • Default goods receipt bin – goods before put-away
  • Default clarification bin – unclarified goods, stock without a bin
  • Scan required when picking – bin and item must be scanned
  • Warehouse rules … – picking (e.g. confirm pick quantities ≠ 1, batch check), mandatory comment, mixing batches on one bin and the Quantity entry when packing and picking (scan only, quantity + scan or quantity without scan – see Enter quantity, then scan)

Converting a warehouse to WMS

  1. Open Warehouse → Warehouses & bins and select the warehouse.
  2. In the … menu, click Convert to WMS warehouse …
  3. The wizard shows a preview with all obstacles. Stock without a storage bin goes to the clarification bin.
  4. Click Convert now.

Afterwards you clear the clarification bin in the warehouse app via Put-away. You can switch back to a standard warehouse via Edit warehouse.
