Vouchers in shops
allverto as the central voucher account – redeem vouchers from the POS, invoices or created manually also at the WooCommerce and Shopify checkout, with one shared remaining balance, reservation and synchronisation.
A voucher from allverto is valid everywhere: at the POS, on orders and at the checkout of your shops. All of them share the same remaining balance – allverto is the central voucher account. What is redeemed in the shop is booked to the voucher by allverto immediately; what is redeemed at the POS is no longer available in the shop.
What works with which shop system
| Shop | How | Status |
|---|---|---|
| WooCommerce | “allverto Gutscheine” plugin: field in the cart and at checkout, checking, reserving and booking with allverto | ready for the classic cart; block checkout prepared, not yet tried in a real shop |
| Shopify | allverto creates every voucher as a Shopify gift card with the same code, balance and expiry and synchronises the balance | ready; needs Shopify to approve the gift card permissions |
| Shopware 6 | “AllvertoGutscheine” plugin | skeleton, not yet usable at checkout |
| allverto Shop | plugin in the allverto Shop | to follow; token and interface can already be used |
| Marketplaces | – | not possible (Amazon, eBay etc. don't accept third-party vouchers) |
Discount codes and coupons that you create in the shop itself remain deduction lines on the order as before.
Set up WooCommerce
- Right-click the WooCommerce shop → Vouchers ….
- Switch on Accept allverto vouchers in this channel and click Save.
- Click Create token and then Copy token. The channel token is shown only this one time.
- In WordPress, install the allverto Gutscheine plugin (upload the ZIP) and activate it.
- In WordPress open WooCommerce → Settings → allverto Gutscheine: tick Gutscheine annehmen, enter the interface address (shown in allverto in the same window, with a copy button) and the channel token, and save.
- Click Test connection.
From now on your customers see the allverto-Gutschein field in the cart and at checkout.
How a redemption in the shop works
- The customer enters the code. allverto checks block, expiry, currency and the available balance (remaining balance minus other reservations).
- The amount is deducted from the total after tax – down to 0 at most. A multi-purpose voucher is a means of payment, not a discount: the VAT on the goods stays unchanged.
- When the order is placed, allverto reserves the amount. If the balance has been used elsewhere in the meantime (e.g. at the POS at the same moment), the shop stops the order with a message.
- As soon as the order is accepted (processing, on hold, completed or paid), allverto books the redemption. The voucher's Transactions show the shop with the order number.
- If the order is abandoned, the payment fails, or it is cancelled or fully refunded, the plugin releases the reservation or credits the amount back (Redemption cancellation).
A reservation that is not booked expires by itself after two hours – the balance is then free again.
On the order
When orders are fetched, allverto takes over the voucher as a payment (voucher with code) in the Payments dialog – not as a line and not as a discount. The voucher is not charged a second time. For orders imported as paid, allverto books the rest as payment in the shop so that the order is fully paid. If you cancel the voucher payment on the order, the amount is credited back to the voucher.
Set up Shopify
- Add the Admin API scopes write_gift_cards and write_gift_card_transactions to your Shopify app. Depending on the plan, Shopify only grants the gift card permissions after approval by Shopify Support – allow some time for this.
- Renew the channel's access in allverto (right-click → Change credentials …) if Shopify issues a new token.
- Right-click the Shopify shop → Vouchers …: switch on Accept allverto vouchers in this channel and Create and synchronise vouchers as Shopify gift cards, then Save.
- Click Sync now. After that the sync runs with every order fetch.
How allverto synchronises:
- Every active voucher in the shop's currency becomes a gift card with the same code (without hyphens – enter it at Shopify's checkout just as in allverto), the same balance and expiry. Shopify requires codes of 8–20 characters; shorter custom codes are skipped.
- If the gift card is redeemed at the Shopify checkout, the next order fetch books the redemption to the voucher and records it as a payment on the order.
- If the voucher is redeemed at the POS or on an order, blocked or expires, the sync adjusts the balance in Shopify (debit or credit). allverto debits blocked vouchers to 0 in Shopify instead of deactivating the card permanently – so unblocking remains possible.
allverto does not take over Shopify gift cards sold in the shop: after creation Shopify only returns their code masked. They remain pure Shopify gift cards.
Security
- The channel token is valid only for this one sales channel and only for vouchers. allverto does not store it in plain text and shows it only once.
- The plugin talks to allverto server to server (HTTPS only); the token never appears in the customer's browser.
- Against guessing codes: after 20 unsuccessful checks within 10 minutes, allverto blocks further checks from this shop and address for a while. Unknown, blocked and expired codes look the same from outside.
- Your company's firewall applies here too: if you only allow certain IP addresses, your shop's server must be among them.
- A shop can only book, release and credit its own reservations – at most up to the booked amount.
Frequently asked questions
Can a customer redeem several vouchers in one order?
Yes. Each voucher is checked, reserved and booked individually; together at most up to the order total.
What does the customer see if the code is wrong?
Only "This voucher cannot be redeemed" – without any hint whether the code exists.
What happens with a partial refund in the shop?
The plugin only credits automatically on cancellation or full refund. For a partial refund, book the credit in allverto (Payments dialog on the order: cancel the voucher payment) or refund another way.
