Connecting Hermes

allverto creates Hermes labels via the Hermes Shipping Interface (HSI). Order and label are created in one step. To do this, you connect your own Hermes business customer access.

#Before you start

• a Hermes business customer contract (Hermes Germany),
• a user in the myHermes Business Portal (business.myhermes.de) for whom Hermes has activated API access – ask your Hermes contact to activate the shipping API (HSI),
• optionally your own API client (client ID and client secret), if Hermes has given you one,
• for Test mode: access to the Hermes integration environment.

#Step by step

1. Open Shipping → Settings → Carriers and fill in the Sender address.
2. Click Connect carrier and choose Hermes.
3. Enter a name in allverto and choose the Default product:
   • Hermes Paket – doorstep delivery,
   • Hermes Next Day – delivery on the next working day (if included in the contract),
   • Hermes PaketShop – Hermes chooses the ParcelShop near the delivery address, the customer is informed by email.
4. Enter the business portal Username and Password; with your own API client, also the Client ID and Client secret.
5. Choose the Label format (PDF 10 × 15 cm, PDF on A4 or ZPL with 203/300 dpi).
6. Click Test login. allverto also checks whether the shipping API is activated. Then Connect.

#Customer notification

If the customer has an email address, allverto also books the email notification. For Hermes PaketShop, the email address is mandatory.

#Cancelling

The Hermes interface has no cancellation. In allverto, cancelling only marks the shipment as cancelled. Simply don't stick the label on. Hermes bills according to your contract – if in doubt, clarify with your Hermes contact how unused shipping orders are handled.

#International and customs

For destinations outside the EU (e.g. Switzerland, United Kingdom), allverto transmits the customs data to Hermes: item, quantity, value, weight, customs tariff number and country of origin from the item (Shipping & customs). International shipping must be included in your Hermes contract.

#Frequently asked questions

#“Hermes denies access. Is the user activated for the shipping API (HSI)?”

The login worked, but the user isn't allowed to use the shipping API. Have Hermes activate the user.

#Do I have to do an end-of-day closing?

No. Hermes receives the shipment data when the label is created. You get a manifest (PDF) of the parcels since the last closing on the account via Manage → End-of-day closing (manifest).
