Analyse payment fees

ReferenceLast checked on 15/10/2026

Record fees from PayPal, Stripe, Amazon Pay and other payment methods separately and analyse them per payment method or provider with the effective rate.

Payment providers such as PayPal or Stripe keep a fee from every payment. allverto still books the payment to the invoice at its full amount – so the invoice is paid – and records the fee separately. Under Finance → Payment fees (group Export & reporting) you can see what each payment method really costs you.

Before you start

  • Viewing requires the View financial data permission.
  • You maintain fee rules in two places:
    • per payment method under Sales → Settings → Payment methods with Fixed fee (per payment, e.g. €0.35) and Percentage fee (of the payment amount, e.g. 2.49 %) – see Payment methods,
    • per payment provider in Payment providers via right-click → Fees… (Fixed per payment and Percent of amount; requires the Set up payment providers and bank access (PayPal, Mollie, Amazon Pay, FinTS, EBICS, XS2A) permission).

How fees arise

If a transaction is spread across several invoices, the fee is split proportionally by amount. If a payment is cancelled, its fee appears struck through as Cancelled.

What you see

At the top, for the selected Period (default: last 30 days), you see the Fees in period, the Payment amount with the number of payments and the Effective rate (fees ÷ payment amount).

The upper table summarises per Payment method / provider: Payments, Payment amount, Fees and Effective. The lower one lists every single fee with Date, Document, Customer, Payment amount, Fee and Source.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't the invoice stay open by the amount of the fee?

The customer paid the full amount; the fee is your expense. That's why the payment settles the invoice in full and the fee is shown separately.

The list is empty.

Fees only arise when payments are booked with a fee rule or during payment matching of PayPal, Stripe or Amazon Pay transactions. Check the period and whether a rule is set up for the payment method.
